Geographical Profile
Rocky Mount, North Carolina
Unsolved Murders
Profile Developed 7/4/2009
The following geographical profile was developed by Dr. Maurice Godwin using his Predator computerized system. This profile was developed using the body dump locations of six victims. Map 1 depicts the over crime areas showing the body dump locations along with the Predator computer results and map overlay. The blue star is where the computer predicted the likely location where the killer has some connection. Map 2 depicts a more specific search area highlighted by the orange circle, which is the same location of the blue star. The red pin is the specific location the computer system predicted the killer has a strong connection, which is referred to as the anchor hit point. Map 3 depicts a wedge shape pattern. Within the wedge area the police should search for the killer. The purpose of geographical profiling is to narrow down the search area where police has to look for a criminal. When the bodies of any of the seven missing victims listed below are found this profile will be up dated.
They are seven missing women from the Rocky Mount area who are
not included in this geographical analysis; the missing women are:
•Shamika Terrele Simmons, 18
•Wiesha Nicole Parker, 18, was reported missing Oct. 11, 2005.
•Christine Boone, 45, was reported missing on Jan. 16, 2007.
•Jessica Simone Williams, 19, was reported missing June 17, 2007.
•Joyce Renee Durham, 48, was reported missing Aug. 9, 2007.
•Ashleigh Carol Morgan, 18, was reported missing on May 4, 2008.
Antwan Maurice Pittman
Suspect
Map A below shows the predicted anchor point in relation to several locations where Pittman lived. State criminal records show that Pittman lived on Daniels Avenue in Battleboro and in Whitakers between 1993 and 2003. The spatial behavior of Antwan Pittman fits the results of the geographical profile - meaning that the victims were dumped in locations that Pittman was familiar with and often travelled when he was not offending. When Pittman's mental map is compared to where the victims were found this indicates that he is likely responsible for the remaining murders.
How police investigators should have used this profile is briefly discussed. Police should have run a criminal record check on black males (serial murders are primarily intra-racial) living in and near my specific anchor point (red map pin below) in order to look for any person who had previous sex offenses and other behavioral actions which might have similarities to the murders such as picking up prostitutes. If these steps would have been taken, there is no doubt that Pittman's name would have popped up - raising red flags. Pittman could have been questioned at that time.
